Dr. Shalini Advani

Dr. Shalini Advani has been the Principal of the British School, New Delhi and Director Education of Learn Today. Her wide experience in setting up and heading schools includes creating effective learning environments, school management systems, staffing and curriculum development with the IB and GCSE curriculum as well as CBSE schools. She has conducted numerous teacher training on how children learn, collaborative teaching and whole school development. Her ideal school is one where every child, teacher, the support staff member is encouraged to develop and grow.

Dr. Advani was a member of the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) Steering Committee for the revised English Curriculum; on the editorial group for its English textbooks and a member of NCERT Special Committee to develop reading cells in government schools in Mathura district. Her publications include Growing Up in the Nuclear Shadow,(Orient Longman) a reader for young people on nuclearisation and peace, Educating the National Imagination (OUP) a study of nationalism in English language textbooks; and as special editor of an issue of Contemporary Education Dialogue, on the National Curriculum Framework 2005

She cares passionately about creating a dynamic educational environment for all children and believes that encouragement and a sense of humour are the most important tools for educators.
