‘Confluence- A Literary Convergence’ held by Singapore International School on September 4, 2021, was a celebration of improving the power of analysis, exploring diversity and understanding linkages between the written and the spoken word. It offered participants the opportunity to take part in various events such as multi-format debates, general quiz, and speech writing. The opening ceremony consisted of invigorating speeches and a foot-tapping music performance. Students from MYP4 and DP1 participated in the event in all the categories. It was a great opportunity opportunity to not only hone and refine the students’ communication skills but also compete with various other schools across India. The interesting and thought-provoking speech and debate topics such as ‘Instead of improving information accessibility to all, the Internet has in fact led to an increase in information bias,’ allowed students to reflect on relevant issues in today’s time. Overall, the experience was truly enriching and a memorable one.
Dhriti Pasrija (MYP 4) was awarded the ‘Best Writer’ for the Inter School speech writing competition and Vatsal Kabra (DP 1) was awarded the ‘Best Speaker- Bridge’ in the multi format debate competition.
